Word from the Brewer
AboutCombine the charm of a historic town, the passions of several good friends, a rooted respect for the craft of brewing and you have unearthed the beginning of what Avondale Brewing Company is all about.
Spring Street Saison is a Belgian style farmhouse ale. The Saison is our flagship brew that helped spawn the formation of Avondale Brewing Co. Our Saison is brewed with our proprietary house yeast, a 4 malt blend and traditional Slovenian hops. Our unique brewing process along with the combination of the finest ingredients creates a thirst quenching brew with no equal. True to style this unfiltered ale has a coppery golden color and rich malty backbone that creates a unique farmhouse brew. Flavors burst with tropical fruit that combine with hints of spicy and peppery notes that are derived from our house yeast. One sip and you will fall in love.
The Battlefield IPA is a new twist on an American India Pale Ale. Our master blend of west coast hops and the finest American and European malt distinguishes itself from many IPAs on the battlefield. A hoppy citrus and floral nose invites you to experience the perfectly balanced IPA. The natural bouquet of our hop blend and malt gives this IPA a victory all its own. You will agree the battle has been won when you reward yourself with our outstanding spin on the IPA.
The Streetcar Kolsch is a German style ale that has flavor and aroma profiles much like a lager or a pilsner. This beer is our lightest and most sessionable brew in our line up. The Streetcar’s engine is going full steam and packed with flavor. Our Kolsch is nicely balanced with low hop bitterness and a light malt backbone. This beer has a medium body, a fizzy head and a slightly cloudy straw yellow hue. The Streetcar Kolsch is low in alcohol, bursting with flavor and extremely refreshing which makes this brew perfect for any occasion.
The Vanillaphant is a superb vanilla porter, an ale which is surprisingly light bodied for its robust flavor and has all the chocolate and roasted nut flavors you would expect in a porter but with a special vanilla twist at the end. We use the worlds finest hand selected vanilla beans from the bourbon islands of Madagascar in our recipe. The malty and vanilla sweetness are perfectly balanced with hoppy bitterness. Avondale’s beloved Miss Fancy the Elephant’s favorite pastime was to guzzle bootleg beer and whiskey.
Miss Fancy’s Tripel is a strong Belgian golden ale rich in flavor and alcohol. The use of malts, traditional hops, a proprietary yeast blend and Belgian candi sugar creates a very special beer named after a very special elephant. Miss Fancy’s Tripel is remarkably smooth and refreshing for such a high ABV beer. CAUTION! Miss Fancy’s Tripel is brewed for humans but strong enough for elephants. During prohibition, City Hall kept a special Miss Fancy reserve on hand at all time in order to treat her stomach aliment.
The Long Branch Scottish is an Americanized 80 Shilling Scottish Ale. The appearance is a slightly dark shade of brown and the nose is filled with roasted and bready malt. This brew is malt forward with dominate caramel notes backed by a light hop bitterness. A very clean, crisp malt character that leaves hints of roast and smoke that dissipates to a very clean and enjoyable finish.
